What is your career/job?

I work as a Clinical Data Analyst for the Gila River Hospital. Unfortunately I spend way too many hours sitting down on my chair, however I like my job! It keeps me busy and makes me feel productive at the end of the day!! During breaks I go for a walk or do squats to keep my heart rate up!! ;D

Outside of Crossfit, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

During the week I enjoy gardening, growing my own veggies and taking care of my plants. Playing with our dogs “Odie and Nugget”. They both are what we call “Rez Dogs”, they were found in the middle of nowhere.

What is your favorite healthy food & “not so healthy” food?

Seafood it is my favorite healthy food!!! I love fresh fish and shellfish…I think I could eat that every day!! CAKES…I LOVE CAKES!!! They fall more into the “Really not healthy food” category but I love them!!!

What is something that we don’t know about you? (interesting fact, accomplishment you are proud of, obscure/unique talent, funny story, etc.)

Something about me: I was born and raised in México, married my husband almost 11 years ago and moved to Tucson. Something “weird”: I took a Greyhound bus all by myself from Tucson all the way up to New York City. It took me about 3-4 days to get there, but I made it! :D Something Fun: I love Scuba Diving and I love going to the range to shoot my pistol and rifle.

What motivates you to push yourself physically?

I’ve always considered myself an “active” person, swimming, running, etc. After few years of being inactive, I started worrying about my health and how much damage I could be doing to my body by not keeping an active and healthy life. I love the fact that I can do more than the “average girls” could do physically; I feel healthy and great every day and I would like to keep it like that for several years.

What do you consider to be your biggest CrossFit accomplishment?

Lifting weights! I never thought that I could pick up a barbell and load it with weights!!! I used to be intimidated walking by the “heavy lifters” area at the old gym. Now I literary preach to all my friends how great it feels lifting weights!!

What is a CrossFit goal that you have?

Muscle Ups!!! After 3 years of CrossFitting, I still can’t get a muscle up! :(
